Kingsmen Swept by Bobcats

THOUSAND OAK, Calif. — The California Lutheran men's tennis team battled hard, but was shut down by Bates College as the Bobcats defeated the Kingsmen 9-0 Saturday afternoon at the Poulson Tennis Center.

The Violet and Gold had one match go the distance. Lucas Tilly was playing in the No. 2 spot and won the first set 6-4. He lost the second set 2-6 and the match went to a third set. Tilly lost the set 11-13 in a super tie breaker as Bates won the point.

The Kingsmen came up short in the other five singles matches as well. Competing for the Kingsmen in singles play was Yahn Gawrit in the No. 1 spot, Dara Kashani at No. 3, Michael Sulahian in the No. 4 spot, Sebastian Ariza at No. 5 and Florent Auteil in No. 6.

In doubles, Gawrit and Tilly went toe-to-toe with Bates at the No. 1 spot, but fell 8-6. Kashani and Andrew Tufenkian lost in the No. 2 spot and Sulahian and Joshua Legardy fell in the No. 3 spot.

The Kingsmen (0-4) have a few weeks off before competing against Skidmore (N.Y.) Monday, March 12, at 1 p.m. in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
