McCallum, Brewer & Nybo Make Podium at SCIAC Championships Day 3

COMMERCE, Calif. — Junior Liam McCallum, junior Ben Brewer and sophomore Andreas Nybo all made their way to the podium on day three of the SCIAC Championships and each set a new program record in their respective events. As a team, the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen remain in fourth with 316.5 points heading into the final day of competition.

McCallum led the team with silver in the 200-free, clocking in a 1:40.17, and narrowly beating Zach Zamecki's record of 1:40.46 set at last year's conference championships.

Joining him, Nybo claimed third in the 100-butterfly, touching the wall at 49.15 seconds. He beats Jacob Frigard's record of 49.74 seconds also set at last year's meet. Also in third, Brewer marked a 3:59.10 in the 400 individual-medley to defeat the top time he set himself last season of 4:00.75. Alongside Brewer, freshman Vincent Hemingway took 11th (4:11.37) and freshman Winston Hewes took 15th (4:19.51) in the 400-IM.

With the evening's next best finish, freshman Miles Gaitan, freshman Nathan March, Nybo and McCallum combined to earn fifth in the 400-medley relay (3:25.68). They are joined by senior Mark Raybukh, freshman Brenden Fuggles, junior Thomas Hamburger and sophomore Nick Kenny in 15th (3:32.31).

Rounding out the finals competitors, Gaitan and Raybukh finished 14th (52.95) and 16th (53.28) overall in the 100-back, respectively. In addition, March tied for 14th (59.89) and Fuggles took 18th (1:00.38) in the 100-breaststroke.
