Guimaraes Jr., Singh Top-10, Kingsmen Fifth

MOORPARK, Calif. JP Guimaraes Jr., and Jot Singh both placed in the top-10 to lead California Lutheran University men's golf to a fifth-place finish at the CLU Kingsmen Invitational at Moorpark Country Club. 

The Kingsmen hosted the two-day event and teams shot 18 holes each on Monday and Tuesday. The Purple and Gold was fifth at 34-over-par. Cal Lutheran shot 311 strokes on day one and improved with a 299 on day two to finish at 610 strokes.  

Guimaraes Jr., and Singh led the Kingsmen against a tournament field that featured nine teams and 59 individuals. 

Guimaraes Jr. tied for sixth and finished at 3-over-par with 147 strokes. He shot a 2-over-par 73 on Monday and carded a 74 on day two. 

Singh moved up two spots on day two. He shot a 76 over the first round and improved with a 73 in the second. He finished with 149 strokes and was in ninth. 

Jimmy Solano made it three Kingsmen in the top-20 and tied for 19th. He moved up 13 spots on Tuesday, the biggest jump on the team. After an 80 on day one, he fired a 74 on day two to finish with 154 strokes.

Also competing for the Kingsmen was Derek Hahn as he finished tied for 25th (77-79-156), Hudson Solters in a tie for 33rd (82-76-158), Adam Cartozian (83-76-159) and Zach Rodriguez (79-80-159) as they tied for 35th, Tanner Stewart in a tie for 41st (81-80-161), Garet Needham in 49th (88-78-166), William Moser in a tie for 51st (82-87-169) and Blake Fitzhugh in 58th (87-88-175). 

The Kingsmen continue their season with the Huntingdon Invitational in Montgomery, Ala., on March 28-29.
