Guimaraes Jr. Places Seventh, Kingsmen Third at Bulldog Classic

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran men's golf team was led by JP Guimaraes Jr. as he tied for seventh at the Bulldog Classic. The Kingsmen finished third at 42-over-par with 618 strokes.

The tournament featured three teams and 16 individuals. The golfers shot 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday. The event was held at The S at Rancho Mirage and had a Par of 72. 

Guimaraes Jr. led the Kingsmen as he tied for seventh. He opened his tournament with a 6-over-par 78. In the second round, he fired a team-low 75. He moved up two spots and finished with at 9-over-par with 153 strokes. 
 
Drake Jones and Jimmy Solano were right behind Guimaraes Jr., and tied for ninth. The duo was consistent on the weekend and carded the exact same score a 76 on the first 18 and 78 on the final 18. They finished at 10-over-par with 154 strokes. 

Derek Hahn, just 15 strokes behind the leader, took home 11th-place with 157 strokes. He shot an 80 on Saturday and a 77 on Sunday to card a 13-over-par.

Jack Spar rounded out the team and shot a 175 with 88 strokes on day one and 87 on day two. He finished in 16th at 31-over-par.

The Kingsmen continue the season with the SCIAC #2. Cal Lutheran travels to Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont, Calif., on April 10-11.
