Kingsmen Advance To 4-0; 92-64 Win Over Caltech

Pasadena, Calif. – Kingsmen basketball advances to 4-0 after beating Caltech by nearly 30 points.

The game started hot for the Kingsmen when they won the tip off and scored a lay-up in the first five seconds. Logan McCullough was the first one to put points on the board.

The game was close for the majority of the first half but the Purple and Gold held a lead the whole time. In the last five minutes of the first half the Kingsmen started to pull away with an 11-point lead. They went into the half ahead of the Beavers 47-36.

Mason Johnson was the leading scorer and put up 20 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists. Right behind him with 16 points was Jacob Alonzo. He then added four rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Both Alonzo and Johnson are transfers and their impact has been pivotal for the Kingsmen.

The second half had a lot more momentum in the Kingsmen favor. They were able to hit more shots and secure more rebounds as the game went on. They kept pulling away with the lead and ended the game with a 92-64 win.

Tommy Griffitts also put up double digits for the Kingsmen with 14 points. He added eight rebounds and one block.

A lot of players for the Purple and Gold got involved as nine other Kingsmen put up points. Overall the team collected 39 rebounds and 13 steals.

The Kingsmen host a game in Gilbert Arena for the first time this season on Saturday against Colorado College.
