THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — California Lutheran University football got all it could handle from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps as the Stags took down the Kingsmen 27-0 on Saturday night. The Purple and Gold drop to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Claremont-M-S controlled the game from start to finish. The Stags received the opening kick and went straight down the field to set the tone. They went 89 yards in three minutes and 42 seconds and took the early lead.

CMS shutdown Cal Lutheran in the first half, forcing Kingsmen quarterback Nick Lasher to throw three interceptions. The Stags added one more touchdown in the second quarter and took a 14-0 lead at the half.

The Kingsmen defense kept Cal Lutheran in the game, but the offense could not get traction.

Zion Brown led the way with 14 tackles for the defense. He tallied one sack and one tackler for loss. Keshaun Charles (10 tackles), Connor McDermott (10 and one sack), Randal Voutt (nine) and JD Lang (8) held their own, but CMS had the answer on homecoming.

The Stags did not let up in the second half, shutting out the Kingsmen, and taking the game.

Jackson Taylor was a bright spot for the offense. He averaged 4.2 yards per carry, on 12 attempts, totaling 50 yards.

Next week is the final home game of the year. The Kingsmen host Whittier Saturday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m.
