THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.— There are more awards for Cal Lutheran football as Obasi Dees was named D3football.com First Team All-West Region while teammate Ethan Pulley garnered Third Team honors. It is the second year in a row the Kingsmen have had two honorees.
"Both of those guys making the D3football.com All-West Region team is special for them and our program," said head football coach Ben McEnroe.
Dees continues to haul in the awards and is the first Kingsmen in program history to earn First Team All-West Region twice. He is also the third Kingsmen to garner two All-West Region selections joining Justin Haulcy-Bateman and Luis Villavicencio.
"It is a big deal to be named to those teams once, but for Obasi to make first team in consecutive seasons says a lot about him and what opposing coaches think of him," McEnroe said. "I couldn't be more happy for his success. He has earned everything he has received and there may be more to come."
Pulley also made history for the Purple and Gold and is the first linebacker to earn All-West Region as he brought home Third Team honors.
"Ethan is one of the best linebackers we have had in the Division III era," McEnroe said. "His tackle numbers are off the charts and this recognition is well-deserved. He is as disruptive a defensive player as I have ever coached."
The teams, selected in balloting by West Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 270 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 79 players were chosen.
Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 20, in D3football.com's pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLVII.
