MINNEAPOLIS — Cal Lutheran Kingsmen football player Obasi Dees was named to the 2019 D3football.com Preseason All-America Team as a First Team Defense selection. It is the 20th time D3football.com has named a preseason All-America team.

Dees, a senior from Antioch, Calif., was a D3football.com All-America Honorable Mention and First Team All-West Region honoree a year ago. In his first three seasons at Cal Lutheran, the cornerback has been an All-SCIAC First Team every year. With opposing offenses going to the opposite side of the field, the shutdown corner recorded 18 tackles, 10 of which were solo, and seven pass breakups in 2019.

D3football.com's preseason All-America list consist of three teams for offense, defense and special teams. Dees was the only player from the SCIAC to make the team.

The Kingsmen start their season Saturday as Cal Lutheran is in Tacoma, Wash., for a matchup with Pacific Lutheran. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
