Curtin, Opara Earn All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS — Cooper Curtin and Zaria Opara represented California Lutheran University track and field on the 2022 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region team.

All-Region honors for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season were announced on Wednesday afternoon.

The top-five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-three ranked relay team.

The duo of Curtin and Opara earned West Region honors to lead the Kingsmen, Regals and the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). Cooper garnered the honor for the pole vault and Opara did so in the hammer.

"The coaching staff and I are very proud of Zaria and Cooper," said Cal Lutheran men's and women's track and field head coach Brett Halvaks. "Receiving All-Region honors is an outstanding accomplishment.

"It is great to see both student-athletes' hard work throughout the season acknowledged with the All-Region recognition."

Both have eligibility to continue their collegiate careers as Curtin and Opara are juniors.
