Roling Promoted to Head Athletic Performance Coach

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Brent Roling has been promoted to Head Athletic Performance Coach at California Lutheran University. He was hired in the fall of 2021 as a strength and conditioning coach.

As head athletic performance coach, Roling will lead the athletic performance department, provide sports nutrition education to student-athletes, teach courses, run an athletic performance internship program, and strive to cultivate and maintain a championship culture within CLU athletics.

"We are excited to welcome Brent to our Athletic Performance team," said Director of Health Wellness and Performance Kecia Davis. "With his experience at the Division III level as a strength and condition coach, working with both men's and women's teams, we know that he will have an immediate impact with our student-athletes here at Cal Lutheran.

"As well as strength and conditioning, Brent's background in nutrition will allow our athletes to prepare themselves to perform their best on the field and in the classroom."

He will be directly working with football, baseball, softball, men's and women's basketball, women's volleyball, men's water polo, swim and dive, and throwers (track and field).

Roling is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Prior to Cal Lutheran, Roling worked as the head strength and conditioning coach for University of Puget Sound (UPS) for three years. Throughout his tenure at UPS, Brent was solely in charge of the strength, conditioning, and sports nutrition duties for all varsity sports.

Roling attended the University of Nevada where he was a four-year scholarship offensive lineman (football) while obtaining his bachelor's degree in nutrition with a specialization in dietetics. Upon completion of his bachelor's degree, he continued his academic career at University of Nevada and obtained his master's degree in nutrition. Brent's graduate research project focused on the effects of specific antioxidant supplementation on cholesterol, fat, and bile acid metabolism. As a result of his research efforts, he was awarded the "outstanding master's student" award from the department of Agriculture, Nutrition and Veterinary Sciences.

A native of Murrieta, CA, Roling is excited to return to Southern California after nearly 10 years away. In his spare time, he enjoys staying active and spending time with his partner Kayla, family, friends, and dog Zephyr.
