ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — California Lutheran University student-athletes Gabby Flores, Andreas Nybo and Andre Rivas earned Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.

Flores garnered the Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week, Nybo was named the Men's Swimmer of the Week and Rivas garnered Men's Water Polo Defensive Athlete of the Week. 

Flores earned the honor for the second time this season and fifth time in her career, Nybo was selected for the fourth time in his career and Rivas was named for the third time in his career. 

Flores (Santa Maria, Calif.) was excellent between the posts for Cal Lutheran which notched a 5-0 win over Caltech and a 2-0 victory over Redlands in SCIAC play. The senior goalkeeper needed to make just one save in 63:28 of action against the Beavers to earn the clean sheet win, and then made seven saves in the win over the Bulldogs. Her complete-game effort saw Flores turn away six of those attempts in the second half.

Nybo (Portola Valley, Calif.) was terrific for No. 22 Cal Lutheran as the Kingsmen were edged by Concordia University Irvine (Calif.), 132.5-129.5. The senior secured a trio of individual victories as he won the 200-yard butterfly (1:54.25), the 100-yard butterfly (51.22), and the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:56.94. He also swam the third leg of Cal Lutheran's first-place 200-yard medley relay team that won the race with a time of 1:34.26.

Rivas (Escondido, Calif.) paced No. 2 Cal Lutheran to a pair of wins over No. 3 Whittier (11-9) and No. 7 Redlands (11-8). The senior goalkeeper was terrific in the cage for the Kingsmen as he turned away a combined 26 shots and picked up a pair of steals during the two-game stretch. Rivas made 15 saves in the win over the Poets and 11 saves in the victory over the Bulldogs.
