Negrete, Moreno Gutierrez Record Top Times at UC Riverside; Regals Race in Highlander Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif.  — The Cal Lutheran's women's cross country team raced in the Highlander Invitational on Saturday morning. It is the Regals' last meet before the conference championships.

Samira Negrete achieved a personal best and the fourth fastest time in program history at UC Riverside's Ag/Ops Course. She reached the finish line first amongst the Regals with 23 minutes and 34.2 seconds and placed 146th. 

Maraitzel Moreno Gutierrez also record a personal best, finishing in 23:43.7 and 158th place. She made history, achieving the program's fifth fastest time on the course. 

The Regals had two more competitors race their personal best, Brooke Hougo (236th) and Dinkenesh Coltvet (272nd). Hougo shaved a minute and fifty two seconds off her time, finishing in 25:49.2. Coltvet finished in 29:31.0, improving her time by two minutes and forty-five seconds. 

Hailey Peters also competed for the Regals, finishing with 29:03.1, and in 271st place

The Regals continue the season with the SCIAC Championships at Prado Regional Park on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 8:30 a.m.
