Regals Race at Vanguard Invite for Second Race

IRVINE, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's cross country took to the course of the Vanguard Invite at Irvine Regional Park for their second meet of the season on Friday morning. 

The course was five kilometers and eight teams were in competition. The Regals placed seventh with a score of 175. 

Sophomore Samira Negrete was the top finisher for the Violet and Gold. She crossed the line 36th-place with a time of 21 minutes and 3.19 seconds. Negrete improved on her time from last weekend as she led the Regals.

The top finisher for the Regals in the first meet, and coming in second this meet, was freshman Maraitzel Moreno Gutierrez. She took home 43rd with a time of 21:33.37.

The Regals had three more runners as freshman Hailey Peters was 55th with 22:49.59, junior and captain Brooke Hougo was right behind her in 58th-place with 23:08.74 and freshman Dinkenesh Coltvet was 74th with 26:17.86.

Up next for the Regals is the Pomona-Pitzer Invite. The race is set for Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7:45 a.m.
