Regals Record Fourth Shutout in Program History; Defeat Poets

WHITTIER, Calif. – California Lutheran goalkeeper Bailey Meyer made 14 saves and the Regals shutout the Whittier College Poets 8-0 Saturday afternoon at the Lillian Slade Aquatics Center.

It is the fourth time in CLU's history that the Regals have shut out an opponent. Cal Lutheran shutout Macalester in 2004, Caltech in 2009 and Grove City in 2012.

CLU is now 19-7 and 11-1 in SCIAC play. The Regals are on three-game winning streak.

Victoria Rose Meek led the offense with a hat trick for the second straight game. Megan Seeman added two goals and Christin Hirn, Mackenzie Thomas and Nikki Roed each had one.

The Regals were 5-of-12 on power play opportunities. Meek recorded five drawn ejections with Hirn and Seeman adding two apiece.

Roed tallied a game-high five steals as she helped the Regals defense tally their first shutout since 2012. Kristi McGee was next with two steals. Meyer was in the goal for the whole game and had 14 saves.

The Regals look to lock up the No. 2 spot in the SCIAC this Wednesday as they travel to La Verne, Calif., to take on the La Verne Leopards at 4 p.m.
