Regals Claim Six First-Place Finishes at SCIAC Multi-Dual No. 2

PASADENA, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran Regals strung together a total of six first place finishes, Saturday afternoon, making up half of their 12 total top-three finishes at the SCIAC Multi-Dual No. 2. As a whole, the team bolted past Caltech 120-39, but were narrowly edged by Whittier 83-80. 

Individually, junior Kendall Guidetti and senior Alexa Barnes led with two first place finishes apiece. Guidetti ran a 12.53-second 100-meter dash and later jumped 5.49 meters in the long jump. Barnes threw for 46.82 meters in the hammer throw, over five meters further than her runner-up, and later 36.05 meters in the discus throw. The senior also adds a third place finish in the shotput at 10.13 meters. 

Also with a first place finish, senior Kelsey Rouse took first in the high jump, clearing 1.55 meters. She additionally joined Guidetti, freshman Samantha Carranza and junior Ana Cordoba to claim first in the 4x100 relay, clocking in at 48.94 seconds, and rounded out her afternoon with second in the 100-meter hurdles with a new lifetime personal record of 15.38 seconds. 

In the 4x400 relay, Carranza, freshman Denaya Wickett, senior Rebecca Kozlowski and Cordoba picked up another podium finish, this time third with a 4:27.11 mark. 

Tying things all together with the remaining second place finishes, junior Morgan Snyder threw for 31.10 meters in the javelin throw, junior Megan Pollock cleared 3.05 meters in the pole vault and freshman Brittany Toney reached 11.26 meters in the triple jump. 

Adding to the big afternoon, senior Cameron Baggs notched a career-best 13:32.89-run in the 3000-meter steeplechase and freshman Caroline Slate etched her own lifetime personal record with a 20:39.06 in the 5000-meter run. 

Looking to keep things rolling, the Regals return to action on Saturday, April 6, at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont, California.
