Cal Lutheran Trio Wraps Up Weekend at Jim Klein Combined Events

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — After two full days at the Jim Klein Combined Events, Cal Lutheran seniors Josiah Le Doux-Hayes, Kelsey Rouse and Jordan Wiley have officially completed their first full heptathlon and decathlons of the season. 

Moving up from seventh after the first four events, Kelsey Rouse finished in fifth with 4,441 points behind Annie Wright of George Fox and three division I competitors. Adding 1,782 points to her total from day one, Rouse came sixth in the long jump (5.27m), seventh in the javelin throw (31.25m) and eighth in the 800-meter run (2:33.60). 

Rouse finished yesterday with 2,659 points. In order of the day's events, she finished ninth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.53m), sixth in the high jump (1.58m), 15th in the shotput (8.58m) and seventh in 200-meter dash (26.70 seconds). Her time in the 100-meter hurdles is just .01 seconds off her lifetime best set last year against Redlands. 

In the decathlon, Josiah Le Doux-Hayes and Jordan Wiley finished 15th and 17th, respectively. Le Doux-Hayes finished with 4,857 points, adding 2,188 to his total from day one. This afternoon, he went 17th in the 110-meter hurdles (20.32 seconds), 13th in the discus throw (29.66m), 15th in the pole vault (3.25m), 11th in the javelin throw (42.56m) and 15th in the 1500-meter run (5:09:04). 

Yesterday, Le Doux-Hayes collected 2,669 points. He finished 18th in the 100-meter dash (12.10 seconds), 20th in the long jump (5.44m), 18th in the shotput (9.87m), 13th in the high jump (1.70m) and 17th in the 400-meter dash (56.31 seconds). 

Rounding out the crew, Wiley finished with a total of 4,004 points, up 1,670 points from day one. In the back half of the competition, he took 18th in the 110-meter hurdles (22.02 seconds), 19th in the discus throw (22.60m), 14th in the pole vault (3.45m), 16th in the javelin (36.43m), and 17th in the 1500-meter run (5:55.57). 

On day one, Wiley took 20th in the 100-meter dash (12.38 seconds), 19th in the long jump (5.49m), 21st in the shotput (9.02m), 18th in the high jump (1.5m2) and 18th I the 400-meter dash (59.04 seconds). 

The Cal Lutheran track and field team returns to action on Saturday, March 30, for the SCIAC Multi-Dual No. 2 in Pasadena, California, hosted by Caltech.
