Barnes Leads Regals at Rossi Relays; Team Makes Three Additions to Program Record Book

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Senior thrower Alexa Barnes recorded the Cal Lutheran Regals' top two finishes of Saturday's Rossi Relays. As a whole, the team picked up nine top-20 finishes amongst competition from every NCAA division and made three additions to the program record book. 

Barnes highlighted the field events with bronze in the hammer throw, going 47.75 meters, and her new lifetime personal record moves her up into fourth on the Cal Lutheran all-time list. She additionally claimed fourth in the discus throw, reaching 38.88 meters.

Also on the field, junior Morgan Snyder finished fourteenth in the shot put (9.59 meters) and senior Kelsey Rouse took 20th (8.75 meters). The two later flipped, with Rouse taking 12th (32.30 meters) and Snyder grabbing 16th (31.60 meters) in the javelin. Rouse's 32.30-meter mark also places her in sixth in the program all-time record book. 

Rounding out the day's top finishes, junior Megan Pollock finished 14th in the pole vault, clearing 2.90 meters, and junior Kayla Cross followed in 15th at 2.75 meters.

On the track, senior Cameron Baggs, senior Kylie Rodriguez, freshman Veronica Redpath and junior Rachel Ereso clocked in at 13:38.45 in the women's distance medley (24th), the now seventh best time in school history. Ereso, Rodriguez, Baggs and freshman Sam Torres went on to also take 12th in the 4x800 relay (11:10.98).

The team returns to action on Saturday, March 2, for the SCIAC Multi-Dual #1 hosted by Cal Lutheran at Redlands University. Events kick off at 10 a.m. at the Ashel Cunningham Track.
