Rouse Earns SCIAC Field Athlete of the Week

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — After her team-leading four top-ten finishes at Saturday's season opener at the Pomona-Pitzer Collegiate All-Comers Invitational, senior Kelsey Rouse earned Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors.

Rouse headlined the afternoon with a second-place finish in the high jump at 1.6 meters, tying with Chelsea Challacombe of Div. I UC San Diego and Maya Price of Div. II CSU San Bernardino in height, but falling to tie-break rules (number of attempts) to Challacombe.

She went on to also take seventh in the long jump (5.19 meters), tenth in the 200-meter dash (26.77 seconds) and tenth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.75 seconds). Rouse came up just .02 seconds behind teammate Anna Cordoba in the 200-meter sprint who took ninth in the event.

Track and field returns to action on Saturday, February 23, at the Rossi Relays Invitational hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Events kick off at 11 a.m. in Claremont, California.
