Rouse Competing at NCAA Women’s Outdoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee announced the participants for the 2018 Championships and Cal Lutheran's Kelsey Rouse is competing in the heptathlon. The championships will be held May 24-26 at the Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wis.

Rouse enters the championships with the 13th-best score for the heptathlon. She tallied 4,475 points this past week at the Redlands Final Qualifier. It was a new personal best for Rouse and is the second-best score in program history.

For the heptathlon, she will compete in seven events over Thursday and Friday. The 100 meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200 meters are Thursday. She continues Friday with the long jump, javelin and 800 meters. The entire schedule can be found here and all times are Central. At the Redlands Final Qualifier, Rouse scored a personal best in six of the seven events. She set new personal records in the high jump (1.60 meters), 200 meter dash (26.46), 100 meter hurdles (15.52), shot put (9.49 meters), javelin (27.63 meters) and long jump (5.40 meters).

For each men's individual event contested, including the decathlon, the top 20 declared student- athletes were accepted into the competition. For each women's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition. The complete list of qualifiers is available here.
