Regals Shut Out DII Opponent In Doubleheader

HONOLULU, O'ahu – The Regals competed in a double header against Division II Chaminade and Division I University of Hawai'i. The Purple and Gold took the first game against Chaminade 5-0 before they were bested 7-0 by University of Hawai'i.

Game one against Chaminade started with a doubles win of 6-2 by Carmen Bufkin and Brennan Foreman. Following them up in the doubles two-spot was Heidi Levanen and Joslin Seaberg. Levanen and Seaberg shut out their opponent 6-0.

Finishing up the doubles play and taking the 6-2 win was Sophia Gawrit and Lauren Sebastian.

Foreman was in the one-spot for singles and took her match 5-4. Following her up was Luisa Garcia with an easy 6-1 win.

Carolina Groff Hinojosa was in the three-spot and won 6-1. Seaberg came back for another win and didn't get a set taken off of her through her doubles or singles match. Levanen had another 6-0 shut out right after and was in the same standing at Seaberg.

Finishing off the match with yet another 6-0 shut-out was freshman Kayla Kling.

Game two was not as successful for the Regals as all their energy was spent in game one's shut out.

The most sets the Regals took in the three doubles matches was Seaberg and Levanen's 6-3 loss. Bufkin was in the one-spot for singles and the closest Regal to contend with a 6-3 and 6-2 loss.

The Regals finish their Hawai'i debut on Friday at University of Hawai'I, Hilo. Start time is TBA.
