THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – California Lutheran University women's tennis got their third win at home as the Regals took care of the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
Cal Lutheran improved to 6-3 on the year. The Purple and Gold have enjoyed home court and are 3-1 at Poulson Tennis Center.
The Regals led 2-1 after doubles as they took the No. 2 and 3 spots. Luisa Garcia and Carolina Groff Hinojosa won No. 2, 8-4, and Heidi Levanen and Joslin Seaberg claimed No. 3, 8-6.
Carmen Bufkin continued her fastastic play at the No. 1 singles spot and won handily 6-0, 6-1. Garcia went 2-0 on the day as she won No. 4 singles 7-6, 6-3.
Cal Lutheran continued to dominate singles as Lauren Sebastian took the No. 6 spot 6-0, 6-3, Sophia Gawrit came back to win at the No. 3 with 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 and Groff Hinojosa claimed the No. 5 spot 6-3, 6-7, 1-0
The Regals have more than a week off before their next contest. Cal Lutheran host a doubleheader on April 1 with Whitworth at 11 a.m. and Whittier at 3 p.m.
