PORTLAND, Ore. – California Lutheran University women's tennis got suffered their first loss of the season as the Regals fell to Linfield 6-3 on Sunday morning.
Carmen Bufkin continued to have success for the Regals at the No. 1 position and scored a point as she won her match handedly 6-2, 6-1.
The Regals two more points came at the No. 4 singles spot as Sophia Gawrit won 7-5, 6-1, and then at No. 3 doubles as Heidi Levanen and Joslin Seaberg won 8-6.
Cal Lutheran was down 2-1 after doubles. Bufkin and Brennan Foreman came up just short at the No. 1 8-7 (10-8) and Carolina Groff Hinojosa and Sylvie Van Cott fell 8-4 at the No. 2.
The Regals' had a match-point opportunity at number one doubles and a couple of other close matches for Foreman at number two singles (6-4, 6-4) and Luisa Garcia at number five (7-5, 6-4).
The Wildcats grabbed two more singles points and the match. Van Cott fell 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 3 and Groff Hinojosa lost 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 6.
The Regals are back in action Monday up in Tacoma, Wash., against Pacific Lutheran at 9 a.m. and then Puget Sound at 2:00 p.m.
