HONOLULU, Hi. — The Cal Lutheran Regals added another victory, by winning 9-0 against the Division 2, Chaminade University Silverswords.
Starting the final doubles match in Hawaii for the Regals, freshman Joslin Seaberg and freshman Sophia Gawrit, No. two doubles, won 8-3. Starting with a victory for their first doubles match of the season.
Senior Christie Kurdys and freshman Lilijana Peters-Semak, No. one doubles, added another victory 8-5.
No. three doubles, junior Jade Moore and freshman Kassandra Munsee, started their doubles achievements together with a victory, 8-6.
Continuing into singles play, freshman Nicole Alvarez, No. one singles, was victorious, 6-2 and 6-2. No. two singles, freshman Carolina Groff Hinojosa, added another win 6-2 and 6-1.
For her first time on the singles courts for the Regals, freshman Grace Maroscher, No. five singles, won 6-2 and 6-1.
After her win, Maroscher said, "It felt really good to get to play. I gained valuable experience as a starter today. We all played super great and, Go Regals!"
Junior JoAnn Taylor, No. three singles, also won 6-3 and 7-5. Freshman Joslin Seaberg, No. four spot, started a streak of her own by winning 6-3 and 6-2.
Freshman Rubina Copano, No. six singles, won 6-1 and 6-2, also seeing her first singles match on the court for the Regals.
After her first Regals start, and win, Capano said, "It felt great to be able to play for Cal Lutheran, have a great view of Waikiki beach from the courts and to have played so well!"
Head coach Mike Gennette said after the win, "I'm so proud of all of these girls and how hard they worked to come together as a team and a 'family'. We're really looking forward to continuing to grow together as a team and for lots of great times ahead!'
The Cal Lutheran Regals get a short break, before they travel to Caltech in Pasadena, Calif., on April 5, at 3 PM PST.
