Regals Fall to Sharks in Hawaii

HONOLULU, Hi. — The Cal Lutheran Regals played the nationally ranked, No. five nationally ranked, Div. II, Hawaii Pacific Sharks in Honolulu, Hawaii, Tuesday afternoon. The Regals gave it their all but fell short 7-0. 

Regals Nicole Alvarez and JoAnn Taylor, No. one doubles, were succumbed by their opponents, 6-4. No. two doubles, Lilijana Peters-Semak and Christie Kurdys, came up just short as well, 6-2. 

Rounding out doubles play Sarah Seeman and Carolina Groff Hinojosa, No. three spot, suffered 6-3. 

Persevering into singles play, Semak, No. one, fell to her No. seven nationally ranked opponent, 6-4 and 6-2. Seeman, No. two singles, fell to her No. 54 nationally ranked opponent, 6-1 and 6-2. 

Kurdys, No. three singles, fell to her No. 73 nationally ranked opponent, 6-1 and 6-2; Alvarez, in the No. four spot, fell 6-1 and 6-1; Brennan Foreman, No. five singles, fell 6-1and 6-3; and Groff Hinojosa, No. six, fell 6-3 and 6-1. 

After the game, head coach Mike Gennette stated, "The Regals actually played quite well today at Ala Moana Park tennis center which is located on a picturesque beach in Waikiki just feet from the ocean."

The Cal Lutheran Regals visit Chaminade University, this afternoon, at 2 PM HST, to play against the Silverswords.
