Regals Extend Win Streak to Nine Contests

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Extend the streak the nine! A 7-2 win over the Principia Panthers extends the Cal Lutheran Regals' winning slide to nine contests and leaves the team undefeated thus far in the month of March.

Individually, senior Christie Kurdys and freshman Nicole Alvarez roll into an eight-game streak in singles play, while doubles teams Kurdys/freshman Lilijana Peters-Semak and senior Sarah Seeman/freshman Carolina Groff Hinojosa extend their doubles streak to four.

Opening up the afternoon, Kurdys and Peters-Semak dominated court two with an 8-0 victory followed by an 8-1 win on court three by Joslin Seaberg and freshman Sophia Gawrit. On court one, Alvarez and junior JoAnn Taylor fought a nail biter, but ultimately fell 7-8.

A one-point contest heading into singles, the No. 2 through No. 5 singles picked up Seeman's 4-6, 4-6 fall on court one to clinch the victory. Groff Hinojosa took court two 6-2, 6-1; Taylor won 7-6, 6-1 on court three; freshman Heidi Levanen claimed court four 6-0, 6-1; Seaberg won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5; Gawrit wrapped things up 6-1, 6-0 on court six.

The victory moves Cal Lutheran to 9-1 on the year heading into the final four non-conference games before the majority of Southern California Intercollegiate play begins in April. The Regals return to the court tomorrow, March 24, against the Pacific Lutheran Lutes at 10 a.m.
