Regals Shine Over Loggers

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.— The Cal Lutheran Regals played the Puget Sound Loggers, Thursday afternoon, and added yet another victory to their streak by defeating their opponent 8-1. 

Kicking off the day, Cal Lutheran doubles freshman Carolina Groff Hinojosa and senior Sarah Seeman, No. three, started the day with a victory of 6-5. Following behind, senior Christie Kurdys and freshman Lilijana Peters-Semak, No. two doubles, were victorious with a 6-2 win. 

No. one doubles, freshman Nicole Alvarez and junior JoAnn Taylor fell to their opponents 6-4.

Thankful for the sun, Regals singles solidified the victory.

No. one singles, Semak, fell in the first set, 6-0, but won the second, 6-1. Semak forced her opponent to a tie-breaker, winning 10-8. 

Alvarez, No. four, won 6-0 and 6-2; Kurdys, No. three singles, won 6-0 and 6-3; Groff, No. six, won 6-1 and 6-2; and Seeman, No. two, won 6-1 and 6-3.

Freshman Brennan Foreman, No. five singles, won 6-1 and 6-0. 

After the victory, Seeman stated, "The energy was really high, and we gave it all we got. We persevered through the adverse weather conditions and grinded it out." Kurdys added, "We came on with our game faces on and were ready to compete. We won number two and three doubles, so we took that momentum into singles and dominated." 

The Cal Lutheran Regals stay home, Friday, March 22, to play the Trinity College Bantams at 12 PM, and the Principia College Panthers, at 6:30 PM PST.
