Regals Reign Over Sea Gulls

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.— The Cal Lutheran Regals added another win to their now six-game win streak, by defeating the Salisbury University Seagulls, 8-1, Wednesday evening. 

Freshman Nicole Alvarez and junior JoAnn Taylor, No. one doubles, kicked off the Regals with an 8-1 win over their opponents. Followed by senior Sarah Seeman and freshman Carolina Groff Hinojosa, No. three, heating up their doubles streak with a win of 8-5. 

Finishing off doubles play, freshman Lilijana Peters-Semak and senior Christie Kurdys, No. two doubles, added another win for the Regals, with a win of 8-5. 

Moving on to singles play, the Regals showed their reign on the Gulls.

Freshman Brennan Foreman, No. five singles, solidified her now six-game singles winning streak, with a win of 6-0 and 6-1. 

Along with Foreman in the winning streak category, Kurdys, No. three singles, swept her opponent with scores of 6-0 and 6-0. Also, Seeman, No. two, added another win 6-0 and 6-2. 

Peters-Semak, No. one singles, fell to her opponent 5-7 and 2-6. Alvarez, No. four singles, won 6-1 and 6-2. Groff Hinojosa, No. six singles, won 6-0 and 6-2. 

After the day, Groff Hinojosa said, "I think we came out very strong and dominated doubles. We were very confident in our strokes and in our strategies and is reflected by the score. We left it all on the court."

The Cal Lutheran Regals look forward to their home stay and face Puget Sound (Wash.), Thursday, March 21, at 4 pm PST.
