Regals Beat UCSC for First Win of Season

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran women's tennis team garnered its first win of the season as they took down UC Santa Cruz, 5-4, Saturday afternoon.

Christie Kurdys and Gianna Cupo teamed up and were victorious as they defeated the Banana Slugs No. 1, 8-1. Sarah Seeman and Nicole Neumann were right behind them with an 8-3 win. While Annette Sousa and Jade Moore fought hard and were able to walk away with a 9-8 victory.

Seeman and Cupo were successful yet again in the No. 2 and No. 3 spot in singles. Seeman won in straight set, 6-1 and 6-2, while Cupo dropped the first set 4-6, but came back to defeat UCSC 6-1 and 6-3.

UC Santa Cruz battled as they took down Kurdys in the No. 1 spot, Sousa in the No. 4 spot, Nuemann in the No. 5 spot and Moore in the No. 6 spot, but that wasn't enough. The Regals earned its first win of the season Saturday night as the Banana Slugs fell 5-4.

The Regals (1-3) are back in action on Sunday as they take on Mills at 10 a.m.
