The Regals handed the Sagehens their first loss in SCIAC play, picking up a key win. The Regals are now 6-1-2 in conference and  9-4-2 overall. The Sagehens are 6-1-3 in conference and 9-2-3 overall.

Cal Lutheran's defense held strong for both teams in the first half, as neither team gave up a goal. The Regals  did not allow a shot on goal as the defensive line never let the ball near the net.The offense played just as hard as the Regals made five shots, but only got one on goal. Despite the fight both teams had, the first half ended scoreless.

Both teams came with a vengeance, fighting to be the first to score a goal in the second half. Pomona-Pitzer recorded six more shots, but only one got one on goal. Cal Lutheran made a total of three shots, finally sinking a ball into Pitzer's net in the last ten minutes.

Veljacic had a breakaway, but was knocked down by the Sagehen goalkeeper. Durr took the penalty and gave her team the lead with 7:05 remaining. Durr's goal was followed by Veljacic's goal with 34 seconds left, which cemented the victory for Cal Lutheran.

The Regals hit the road for their next conference game. Cal Lutheran will continue its postponed game against CMS on Monday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m.
