Stewart Named Third-Team All-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior defender Zandra Stewart ends her illustrious Cal Lutheran career with one of the highest honors a collegiate soccer player can receive as she was named a Division III Third Team All-American, Thursday afternoon per the United Soccer Coaches.

Stewart (Santa Maria, Calif) is the first Regal to be recognized as an All-American since Taylor Will received the honor in 2012.

Stewart was a four-year starter for the Regals, enjoying a great deal of success during her career as a defender at Cal Lutheran. Stewart earned First-Team All-SCIAC honors three times in her impressive career and also helped her team reach the Sweet Sixteen of the Division III NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. In her junior season, the defender was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Second Team and recently earned First Team All-West Region honors in her final year wearing the Purple and Gold.

Stewart has anchored the defensive backline for the entirety of her career, leading her team to an impressive 40 clean sheets during her four years. After graduation, Stewart will go on to get her PhD or Master's Degree in Organic Chemistry and plans to work in the research field, developing new medications.
