Four Regals Earn All-West Region Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Cal Lutheran capped off their season with a multitude of awards and saw their success recognized by the United Soccer Coaches as they selected Zandra Stewart, Mandy Crawford, Alexandra Fagerberg and Danielle Vis to the NCAA Division III All-West Region teams.

Stewart was named to the first team while Crawford and Fagerberg earned second team honors. Vis received third team honors as a forward.

Hailing from Santa Maria, Calif., Stewart was fantastic on the defensive backline during her four years wearing the Purple and Gold. She was named to the All-West Region Second Team a season ago and continued her impressive resumé after helping lead her team to another NCAA Tournament appearance in 2019. The center back anchored the back line for CLU, as her excellent defending led her side to nine clean sheets on the season. Stewart played and started in all 20 contests this season as her class as a center back proved to be extremely valuable.

Fagerberg (Austin, Texas) had a fantastic season as a forward for the Regals, receiving Second Team All-West Region recognition. The junior led the team in both goals (9) and points (22) while also adding four assists. Using her pace, dribbling and finishing ability, the forward was in excellent goal-scoring form as she finished the regular season by scoring eight goals in 12 contests. Fagerberg garnered SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors, netting three goals while tallying an assist over the week when CLU beat No. 20 Trinity. Fagerberg played and started in all 20 contests, leading her team from the front while netting three game-winning goals on the year.

In her first season at Cal Lutheran, Crawford (Simi Valley, Calif.) was outstanding as the team's central forward to garner Second Team recognition. Using her excellent ability to hold-up play and distribute the ball to her other attacking teammates, Crawford notched six assists on the year. The forward also put her finishing on display in her inaugural season, netting seven goals including one game-winner. Crawford also earned SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors for her stellar performance in the Regals' 3-0 win over La Verne. The freshman made her presence felt in the attack, scoring a goal and delivering an assist in the contest.

Vis (Fremont, Calif.) was named to the Third Team for her attacking prowess during the season. Transitioning to a left-wing position after beginning the season at left back, Vis created havoc in the attacking third of the pitch, scoring four goals and dishing out two assists on the year. Her pace and dribbling ability was very important for the Regals as she helped her side to nine wins in their last 10 matches during the regular season.

The Regals will look to regroup and make another NCAA Tournament run in 2020.
