Regals Rematch Tigers in SCIAC Tournament Semifinals

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The No. 2 Cal Lutheran Regals will rematch against the No. 3 Occidental Tigers on Wednesday, October 31, in round one of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. inside William Rolland Stadium and the victor will advance to face the winner of No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer and No. 4 Redlands in the finals. 

Admission with a SCIAC school ID is free and general admission is $10. Admission for seniors (55 and older), military and veterans are $5. Children under 12 years of age are free. 

The Regals and Tigers have held one another gridlocked in their two regular seasons contests, ending both in 0-0 draws after the full 110 minutes. Both teams also finished with an 8-2-4 conference record, closing the season tied with 28 points in the standings. Cal Lutheran holds the tie breaker based on their records against the top four teams in the standings and clinched home field advantage with their 4-0 win over Redlands on senior night. 

Cal Lutheran enters the contest undefeated at home (6-0-2) and in a seven-game shutout stretch (5-0-2). They currently rank seventh in the nation for shutout percentage at .765. 

In addition, the Regals lead the conference in assists per game at (1.59), total assists (27) and goals-against average (.267). A huge playmaker for the Regals, sophomore Gabby Flores has held down the posts, leading the nation in goals against average (.167) and save percentage (.957). 

Offensively, nine different Regals have notched multi-goal years. Sophomore Sam Cornejo leads the group with four, while sophomore Alexandra Fagerberg, sophomore Trinity Martinez, senior Ryley Settles and freshman Danielle Vis have added three apiece. Leading to those scores, senior Emily Williams is tied for second in the conference with four assists.
