Regals Soccer Earns Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Cal Lutheran women's soccer team was honored for their hard work in the classroom this past year by being awarded the 2016-17 United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award.

"I am extremely pleased with our continued success, not only on the field, but off the field," said head coach Frank Marino. "Their hard work and dedication makes me very proud of our student-athletes."

In order to be eligible for the award, the overall team GPA, which includes all players listed on the roster must be above a 3.0.

The Regals finished with a team GPA of 3.34, marking their ninth consecutive season earning the award.

A total of 856 soccer teams, 303 men and 553 women, received the award for the 2016-17 academic year.

The Regals season came to an end in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. It was the best finish for CLU in program history. Their overall record was 16-4-3.
