THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran women's soccer team took the pitch inside William Rolland Stadium on Senior Night to take on the Whittier Poets. Alexandra Albaeck, Jackie Albers, Olivia Leyva, Bri Pinal, Sarah Wardle and Kali Youngdahl were honored prior to kickoff for their dedication to the Regals soccer program. All the seniors contributed on the night as the Regals continued their winning ways in a 2-0 victory.

The match would prove to be very physical as four yellow cards were dealt along with 23 fouls between both teams.

The Regals were awarded a penalty in the 13th minute after a Whittier handball in the box. Youngdahl continued her great goal-scoring form and expertly put the ball into the back of the net from the spot to give her team an early 1-0 lead.

Cal Lutheran doubled their lead in the 61st minute when Maddy Griess delivered a long throw into the box. Youngdahl flicked a headed pass to Albaeck who fired her shot inside the left post to give the Regals a 2-0 advantage.

That would be the end of the scoring as the Violet and Gold came away with a 2-0 win in their final regular season game.

Katie Weaver, Tessa Dwyer, Zandra Stewart, Albers and Leyva were stellar on the defensive back line, holding the Poets to only six shots with three on goal to record the shutout.

Alysa Frazier made three saves in goal for the Regals and improved her overall record to 6-0.

Cal Lutheran (15-2-2, 11-1-2 SCIAC) will host the fourth-place team for the first game of the SCIAC Postseason Tournament inside William Rolland Stadium on Thursday. The time is to be determined.
