Regals Earn Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Cal Lutheran women's soccer team was honored by the United Soccer Coaches with a Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic year.

The Team Academic Award was created to recognize student athletes' commitment to excellence in the classroom. For a team to be considered for the NSCAA Team Academic Award, it must have a composite team grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for all team members who appear on the official NCAA, NAIA or junior college roster forms for the fall season.

The Regals combined for a team grade point average of 3.34, thereby earning the Team Academic Award. A total of 824 soccer teams (286 men, 538 women) posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

This season, Cal Lutheran is 9-1-1 overall and is the only unbeaten team in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) at 6-0-1. The No. 25 ranked Regals continue the season at Redlands Saturday at 11 a.m.
