Regals Unable to Overcome Chapman's Control of Time of Possession

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – California Lutheran University women's lacrosse played the Panthers of Chapman University for the second time this season. The Regals' defense held the Panthers to fewer goals than their previous matchup, but were unable to produce enough offense to keep up. Chapman went home with the 17-0 win.

Cal Lutheran played strong defense through the first quarter, but struggled to get the ball out of their end of the field. The Panthers were able to take advantage of their much higher time of possession and pressure to score 6 goals in the period.

Chapman maintained pressure on the Regals by winning draw controls, taking 18 to the Regals 2. With the ball in their sticks from the whistle, the Panther offense added another 5 goals in the second quarter to go into the half up 11-0.

The third quarter saw the Regals hold the Panthers to a lower total of 4 goals.

The final quarter saw Cal Lutheran's defense hold Chapman to 2 goals. The Regals' offense also found a way to apply some pressure of their own with half of their shots coming in the final quarter.

Cal Lutheran's goal keeper Cameron Mendez had another double digit save performance with 13 on the day. This brings her SCIAC leading total up to 127 saves on the season.

The Regals will head back on the road on Wednesday to play Pomona-Pitzer at 7:00pm.
