Regals Take Third at SCIAC #2

POMONA, Calif. — California Lutheran University women's golf competed in the second leg of the SCIAC Championships, SCIAC #2, on Saturday and Sunday at Mountain Meadows Golf Club. 

The Regals finished third at 75-over-par. They recorded 331 in the first round and improved over 10 strokes with a 320 in the second for a total of 651. Their 320 was the third-lowest of the day. . The Regals had the third-most birdies at the tournament with 11 and added an eagle.

The teams played 36 holes at SCIAC #1, now 36 holes at SCIAC #2 and will cap conference play off with 54 holes at the SCIAC Championships. Eight teams competed with a total of 44 golfers. The Par for the course was 72. Teams had six golfers competing for the team score. A few teams had individuals playing. 

Jett Legacion led the Regals and tied for fifth at 13-over-par. She carded an 80 in round one and improved with a 77 in round two. She moved up six spots over the final 18 holes and totaled 157 strokes. Legacion tallied the most Pars on the team with 19. 

Ashley Zook was the second Regal to finish and tied for seventh. She shot a 78 over the first 18 and carded an 80 over the second. She finished at 14-over-par with 158 strokes. Zook recorded four birdies and had the lone eagle for the Purple and Gold.

Haley Brown made it three Regals in the top-20 and placed 19th at 22-over-par. She recorded an 87 in round one and fired a 79 and she moved up eight spots with 166 strokes. 

Also competing for the Regals was Claire Cornejo as she tied for 26th at 27-over-par (86-87-173) and Tara Ng (93-84-77) and Grace Cornejo (88-89-177) as they tied for 32nd at 33-over-par.

The Regals have one final tournament to make their case for the NCAA Championship. Cal Lutheran plays in the SCIAC Championship April 24-26 at Tukwet Canyon Golf Club  in Beaumont, Calif.
