BOSSIER CITY, La. — The California Lutheran women's golf team won the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate and were led by Marissa McCardell, Erica Mitchell and Ally Gaskill as the trio went 1-2-3 and swept the medal stand. The tournament was held Monday and Tuesday at The Golf Club at Stonebridge.
The two-day tournament had the golfers shoot 18 holes on each day. The Par was 72. Cal Lutheran won the tournament at 80-over-par. The Regals shoot 319 strokes Monday and 337 Tuesday as they finished with a total of 656. Their 319 score was the lowest-round of the tournament.
McCardell got her first win of the season. She has also finished in the top-three two more times. She took home the individual title as she finished at 15-over-par. She shot a 78 on day one and an 81 on day two as she finished with 159 strokes.
Mitchell was right behind McCardell at 16-over-par. She shot a 78 and 82 and finished with 160 strokes. Gaskill rounded out the top-three with a score of 19-over-par. She fired a 77 and 85 to finish at 163 strokes.
Hannah Pasco made it four Regals in the top-10 as she placed ninth. She shot an 86 in the first and 91 in the second. She recorded 177 strokes and finished 33-over-par. Lauren Fesler also competed for CLU. She tallied a two-round score of 181 (93-88) and finished at 37-over-par and in 12th.
Cal Lutheran is back in action Monday and Tuesday as the Regals compete at the Redlands Invitational in Indio, Calif., at the Indian Springs Golf Club.
