Regals Send Whittier Home With Loss; Morgan Puts Up 24 Points

Thousand Oaks, Calif. – Regals basketball hosted the Whittier Poets and handed them a loss after four tight quarters. The Purple and Gold walked away with the 63-55 win.

The Regals had a strong first half against the Poets and maintained a lead throughout both 10-minute periods. The Purple and Gold were up 30-23 at halftime.

Sara Mills was leading the offense in the first half and hit back to back to back three pointers. She led the Regals in scoring with 12 points in the first half.

As the second quarter was coming to an end the Poets put up a heavy offensive presence. Danielle Morgan made a huge stop with under a minute left and blocked the Poets lay-up attempt. This shut down their momentum and secured the Regals seven-point lead during the half.

The Poets came out strong in the second half and quickly cut their seven-point deficit to three. Though the Regals had to work on getting momentum back, they never let the Poets take the lead.

Morgan dominated the offense on both sides in the second half. She ended with a total of 24 points, 16 of which came after the halftime.

Mills ended the game with 17 points. Aliya DiMuro put up six points and Mackenzy Iwahashi was right behind her with five points.

Due to technical difficulties the box score will be posted soon.
