Regals Fall To Poets; Mallory Scores 17 Points

Whittier, Calif. – It was a tough shooting day for the Regals as they traveled to Whittier for a 4 pm tip off time.

Cameron Mallory was the leading scorer for the Purple and Gold and put up 17 points. She added four steals and three rebounds in her 32 minutes of play.

Grace Godines, Sara Mills, and Kamakani DeBlake all added nine points of their own. Godines established her place under the net and tallied nine rebounds, two steals, one block, and one assist. Mills tacked on three rebounds, three steals, and two assists. DeBlake added to the offense with seven assists, three rebounds, and two steals.

The Regals kept the game close in the first quarter and went point for point with the Poets. The second quarter is when it started to slip away from the Purple and Gold and they went into the half with an 11-point deficit.

They came out strong in the third quarter and stayed even with the Poets. Whittier outscored the Regals in the final 10 minutes to earn them the 75-56 win.

Danielle Morgan tacked on another seven points, two assists, and one rebound.

The Purple and Gold only had eight girls play throughout the entirety of the game. They return to the court on Monday at home to take on the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens at 5 pm.
