Regals Fall in SCIAC Semifinals

ORANGE, Calif. — Chapman's Lucy Criswell poured in a career-high 31 points, shooting 13-of-20 from the field, and the Panthers defeated the Cal Lutheran Regals 75-52 in the semifinals of the SCIAC Postseason Tournament in the Hutton Sports Center.

With the win, Chapman advanced to the finals and will take on the No. 1 seed Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Kiana Gray and Nayiri Aslanian led the Regals with 10 points each. Aslanian came off the bench and scored her 10 points in 12 minutes of action. She also brough down five rebounds.

Kailee Yan scored eight points and Rylie Wada and Natalie Ruhl each chipped in with five. Jessi Westering led CLU with seven boards and Taylor Oshiro had two assists.

The Panthers shot 61.5-percent from the three-point line. They also outshot the Regals at the free throw line 20-8.

The start of the first quarter went back and forth as the teams matched each other in baskets made. Midway through the first, Chapman started to pull away. The Panthers finished the first quarter on a 9-1 run and had an 18-8 lead at the end of the first.

The Panthers used that momentum and didn't slow down. They outscored the Regals in every quarter and won the game 75-52.

The Regals season came to end in the semifinals of the SCIAC Postseason Tournament. CLU finished with a final record of 15-11 overall and 10-6 in conference play.
