Oshiro Scores Career-High in Loss to Athenas

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran women's basketball team took on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) game in Gilbert Arena Saturday night. The Athenas' outshot the Regals and ultimately walked away with a 69-52 victory.

Taylor Oshiro scored a career-high tonight, while she and Kiana Gray led the Regals with 11 points each. Oshiro went 3-for-5 from the three-point arc, while Gray was 2-for-3 tonight. Kayla Watterson was close behind with nine points and led Cal Lutheran defensively with 11 rebounds, five defensively and six offensively.

The Regals fought hard in the first quarter as they were going basket for basket with the Athenas. In the second quarter, Cal Lutheran struggled stopping CMS as they went on a 15-3 run and were up 31-18 heading into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Athenas were up 42-29 with only three minutes left. Oshiro came off the bench and scored back-to-back baskets, bringing the deficit to only 11 points. The Regals fought hard in the fourth quarter, but the Athenas were on a shooting streak and could not be stopped, resulting in a 69-52 victory for CMS.

The Regals (11-8, 6-4 SCIAC) will take the court again on Wednesday at 7 p.m. as they take on the Whittier Poets in Gilbert Arena.
