LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Kendall Marinesi's list of awards in 2019 continues to grow with the latest being the most prestigious as she represents Cal Lutheran softball on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA Division III All-West Region First Team.
With being named to the First Team at third base, Marinesi is now eligible for selection to the NFCA All-America team. There are eight regions, altogether, as she will go up against seven of the best third base honorees in the country. The All-America team will be released on May 22.
Marinesi's newest accolade joins her list of accomplishment that include, NFCA/Louisville Slugger Player of the Week, Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Google Cloud All-District Team, All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) First Team, SCIAC Character Award winner and SCIAC Athlete of the Week.
After her monster junior year, Marinesi tied the CLU single-season home run record of 12, recorded the most total bases with 104, tied for the 10th most RBI with 39 and tied for the fourth most doubles with 12. For a career, she has the third most homeruns in program history with 14, the third best slugging percentage at .726 and the sixth best batting average with .399.
A total of 364 players were chosen for the 2019 NCAA Division III All-Region softball teams. The eight squads are comprised of three 15-player teams, plus voting ties, in each of the country's eight NCAA regions.
