ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Cal Lutheran's Olivia Leyva and Kendall Marinesi garnered 2018 First Team All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) honors and Antonia Rapisardi was named to the Second Team. The awards were announced Wednesday following a vote by the league's member head coaches.
A senior from La Canada, Calif., Leyva earns First Team All-SCIAC for the second straight year. She was second on the team and ninth in the SCIAC with a .400 batting average. She recorded the fourth-most triples in the SCIAC with four and the fifth-most doubles with 12. Her 12 doubles are tied for the third-most in program history. Leyva tallied three home runs, 50 hits, 23 RBIs, 79 total bases. She had a slugging percentage of .632 and an on base percentage of .449. She started 39 of the 40 games for the Regals and played third base. She had 53 putouts, assisted on 90 more and had a fielding percentage of .953.
A sophomore from Santee, Calif., Marinesi garnered First Team All-SCIAC for the first time in her career. She led Cal Lutheran and tied for first in the SCIAC with 37 RBIs. Marinesi started all 40 games for CLU. She was mainly a designated hitter and also played first base. She led the Regals with a .419 batting average and had the second most hits in the SCIAC with 52. She had 13 doubles, which tied for the second-most in a single season in program history. Marinesi also recorded five triples and two home runs. She had an on base percentage of .455 and a slugging percentage of .663. At first base, she had 54 putouts and a perfect fielding percentage.
Rapisardi earned her first All-SCIAC honor and was named to the Second Team. The senior from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., started all 40 games at shortstop. She recorded 36 hits, 23 RBIs and had a .290 hitting percentage. Rapisardi added two doubles and one triple. She had a .323 slugging percentage, a .341 on base percentage and tallied 40 total bases. She was third on the team with 22 runs. Rapisardi recorded a season-high five RBIs in an 11-7 win against Occidental and had four RBIs in a 23-5 win over Chapman. At shortstop, she had 74 putouts, assisted on 95 more and had a fielding percentage of .929.
Pomona-Pitzer's Liz Rodarte was named the Athlete of the Year, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' Anna Gurr was the Pitcher of the Year, La Verne's Jiana Rojo is the Newcomer of the Year and La Verne's Julie Smith and her staff earned Coaching Staff of the Year.
