THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens got the Cal Lutheran Regals' number Saturday afternoon, taking both games of the double header 9-1 and 4-3, respectively.

A bright spot for the Regals, Kendall Marinesi finished 4-for-7 on the day with a double and RBI.

Taking the mound in game one, Brittany Workman worked her way through two scoreless innings before allowing a three-run homer to Liz Rodarte in the top of the third and RBI-single to Karina Falkstrom in the fifth.

The Sagehens weren't done though and took advantage of two errors by the Regals to start the sixth inning to put two runners on base. A walk by Kristen Hong and another RBI from Rodarte added on two runs, before a double to right center by Izzy Deatherage scored three and broke the score open to 9-0.

With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Marinesi doubled to left center. Workman followed up with a double to left center of her own to bring Marinesi home for the Regals' lone run of the game. Due to softball mercy rules, the game was then retired early due to Pomona-Pitzer holding greater than a seven-run lead after six innings of play.

Looking to salvage the series, the Regals overcame an early three-run deficit in game two, before falling late to the Sagehens 4-3.

In the bottom of the second, Workman led off with a single to center before moving to second on a groundout by Mikaela Mayhew. Olivia Serrano followed up with a single to left, pushing runners into the corners and Marissa Alfaia brought Workman home to make it 3-1.

Next in the third, Marinesi sent Jacy Watanabe home on a single to left center to cut the deficit to one. Mayhew's walk moved Marinesi into scoring position before Serrano singled and advanced to second on the throw. Marinesi scored on the play and knotted the game up at three apiece.

The Regals couldn't hold on though as the Sagehens scored the game-winning run in the sixth on a groundout by Haylee Sindt that allowed Emily Rockhill to score.

The Regals look to bounce back Friday, April 13, in a double header against the La Verne Leopards. Game times are set for 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. PST.
