Kingsmen Finish Sixth at UC Riverside Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif.– The California Lutheran University men's cross-country team finished sixth in the UC Riverside Invitational, as Jonathan Aguilar posted a personal at the meet.

"I felt the meet went really well," said Head Coach Matt Lea. "I was really proud of how they executed the race strategy and competed hard. The weather was hot, and it's not easy to run in this type of weather, but they still went out and ran their races. I felt we did exactly what we needed to do this early in the season."

With a total time of 2:24.51, the Kingsmen would finish in sixth place, just behind fifth-place Chapman.

Rigoberto Baza tallied the best Cal Lutheran time of the day, crossing the line at 27:56.40 to earn 28 points for his team. Baza finished 71stoverall at the meet while earning CLU's best time for the second straight meet.

Just behind Baza was Connor Griffin, coming in at 28:24.56 to grab 29 points after finishing 84thoverall.

Freshman Jonathan Aguilar turned heads with his lifetime best time of 30:06.09 at the meet.

Henry Friederichs managed a top-100 finish with a time of 28:43.52, good enough for 34 points for the Kingsmen.

Dillan Barmache was another standout performer, improving on last meet's time by almost two minutes, finishing at 36:04.98.

Cal Lutheran returns to action Sept. 28 at 7 a.m. when the Regals compete in the Master's Invitational in Santa Clarita, Calif.
