Khromets Leads Kingsmen at SCIAC Championships

CHINO, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen finished eighth overall at the 2018 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships held at Prado Park in Chino, California. 

Sophomore Nikita Khromets led the team in Saturday morning's race, finishing in top three amongst the team for the second consecutive year. He crossed the line in 39th at 27:56.2, running a 5:37-mile pace. His performance shaved over 20 seconds off his time from the meet last season and moved him up 17 spots in the results. 

Coming in second for the Kingsmen, junior Rigoberto Baza recorded a 28:27.6, good for 57th. Rounding out the top five, junior Henry Friederichs finished in 81st at 29:25.2, junior Rudy Correa in 99th at 30:55.4 and freshman Luke VanKeersbilck in 104th at 31:32.7.

Finishing up for the Kingsmen, freshman Xavier Reynoso finished in 120th at 34:50.4, junior Jules Newberry in 121st at 34:54.7, junior Connor Richter in 122nd at 37:29.1 and freshman Dillan Barmache in 124th at 38:35.5. 

The team now looks ahead to the NCAA West Regional Championships on Saturday, November 10, at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington.
