Kingsmen Shut Down Redlands on the Road

REDLANDS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's water polo took care of Redlands on the road as the Kingsmen defeated the Bulldogs 11-9 on Wednesday night.

The Kingsmen have now held four opponents under 10 points, including Redlands twice, as they defeated them earlier this year 9-7. Cal Lutheran is now 5-3 in conference and 11-13 overall. With the 5-3 mark, the Kingsmen moved into a tie for the third spot in conference. 

Luke Mattheis recorded a hat trick to lead the attack and Dillon Goldsmith and Ben Brown added two each. Taylor Garcia and Adam Dow helped orchestrate the offense with two assists each. 

Lincoln Hall was big on the defensive end and recorded a team-high four steals. The Kingsmen had 13 steals in the game as they shut down the Bulldogs. 

Bo DuBois was in the cage and got the win. He recorded eight saves and combined with the defense for a fantastic showoing. 

The defenses held strong in the first quarter as it was 1-1 after eight minutes. The offenses finally got going in the second quarter and the Kingsmen had a 4-3 advantage at the break. Cal Lutheran doubled their lead in the third and took a 8-6 lead to the fourth. The defense did the rest as the Kingsmen won the game 11-9.  

Cal Lutheran is back home for Senior Day on Saturday and host Whittier at 11 a.m.
