Rivas, Brown, Goldsmith Earn All-America Honors

BRIDGEPORT, Pa.— The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced the 2019 Men's Division III All-America Team and Cal Lutheran's Ben Brown earned Second Team honors while teammates Dillon Goldsmith and Andre Rivas were Honorable Mention.

The Purple and Gold had three Kingsmen selected for the third year in a row with Brown and Goldsmith earning the honor for the second consecutive year.

Brown (Chula Vista, Calif.) hauled in Second Team All-America after a very successful sophomore campaign. He made it back-to-back years on the team as he was named First Team as a freshman. The left-attacker became the first Kingsmen to record a stat line of 50-50-50 in goals, assists and steals. He led the team in all three categories as he scored 55 times, dished out 51 assists and tallied 51 steals. He added 14 drawn ejections and nine field blocks. Brown broke the program record for assists in a season and was fifth in steals.

Goldsmith (San Marino, Calif.) was named Honorable Mention for the second straight year. The sophomore continued to improve in Coach Rond's system and was second on the team in steals, third on the team in goals and drawn ejections and fourth in assists. The utility player did it all for the Kingsmen and scored 36 goals, added 18 assists, 36 steals, 24 drawn ejections and 13 field blocks.

Rivas (Escondido, Calif.) flourished in his first full season in the cage and joined Goldsmith on the Honorable Mention team. The goalkeeper kept the Purple and Gold in close games as he tallied 203 saves. He is just the eighth Kingsmen keeper to tally 200-plus saves in a season. For his career, the junior sits sixth on the program top-10 list with 421 saves. This year, he added 18 steals, 12 assists and a full-pool-length goal

The ACWPC All-America teams are selected based on nominations and voting by the head coach of each program in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division (Division I, II, III).
