Brown Sets CLU Record for Single Season Assists; Kingsmen Drop Regular Season Finale to Pomona-Pitzer

CLAREMONT, Calif.— The Cal Lutheran men's water polo team fell in their regular season finale to the Pomona Pitzer Sagehens 15-9 on Saturday afternoon.

The Kingsmen finished the season just one game shy of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament and ended 14-13 overall and 7-7 in conference play. 

Ben Brown tallied four assists in the game, giving him 51 on the season, as he now holds the program record for assists in a season. He also added two steals for a total of 51, which are the seventh most. 

Cole Weiderman led the team with two drawn ejections and now has 53 for the sixth most in a season.

George Lundgren led the attack with a hat trick and Weiderman added two more. Lundgren has scored 115 goals in his career and sits sixth in the record books. He capped of a great career with the impressive feat. Joining Lundgren in playing their last game with the Kingsmen was Hans ColeSeth Hightower and Tanner Kaplan

Andre Rivas was in the cage and tallied 10 saves and one steal, but could not slow down the Sagehens.

The Kingsmen took the first lead and were up 3-1 and Brown found the back of the net. The Sagehens got one more goal before the period was over as CLU had the lead after one. PP quickly tied up the game in the second quarter and both teams added one more goal as the game was tied 4-4 at halftime. 

The Sagehens had the answer in the second half, scoring the first three goals, and took a 7-5 lead. Pomona-Pitzer kept the points coming and doubled up the Kingsmen 10-5 with 1:50 left in the third. PP kept the distance the rest of the way and took the game 15-9.
